Railroad Street Apprenticeship
program (RAP)
RAP addresses the unmet vocational and educational needs of South Berkshire youth and forges new community connections by matching the inspirations and desires of young people to the resources of the community. Our new apprenticeship programs match students with local businesses and trade professionals for credit-based apprenticeships and offer after-school vocational classes.
Berkshire Culinary Arts Program

Hosted by Pearl's restaurant and co-facilitated by RSYP, Pearl's and the Red Lion Inn, the Culinary Program is an after-school program that educates youth in the basic culinary skills needed to succeed in the restaurant industry. Many graduates are offered job placements. Contact your guidance counselor or RSYP to apply. Next eight-week session begins September 17; Winter 2008 dates TBA.

Cosmetology 101 at MSDS Program

Hosted by Michele's Salon and Day Spa, Cosmetology 101 is an after-school program that will serve as an inspiration to the hair and beauty industry. This will include elements of customer service, identifying and meeting customer needs, styling techniques and a basic introduction to salon operation and maintenance. Contact your guidance counselor or RSYP to apply. Pilot program runs November 1-December 20, 2007; Winter 2008 dates TBA.
If you have a passion that you would like to explore, RSYP can help you find a community partner who will mentor you in their workplace. High school students should contact their guidance counselors for more information, and young people out of school should contact RSYP directly for an application.
This project has been supported by a grant from Berkshire Bank.
